Once again, it’s time to kick off the city’s "Shop Ponca 1^st" promotion. Thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce this year marks the 15^th edition of this Community Wide Holiday Giveaway, designed to strengthen the city as a whole by convincing people throughout the area to shop area businesses first.

There are lots of good reasons to shop Ponca first, but here are just a few.

• Dollars spent here, stay here… working for the community, its services and infrastructure.
• Local merchants stand behind their products and/or services.
• When local merchants prosper, the variety available to you increases.
• Tax dollars spent locally equals more economic development opportunity.
• Successful local businesses are better able to support local organizations.
• Shopping locally saves you valuable gas and time.

Last year more than 800,000 tickets were distributed during the course of the promotion. This year, the number of participating merchants has increased yet again… to 75.

It’s easy to participate. Starting November 1^st, merchants will begin handing out tickets. Just look for the Holiday Giveaway sign in the windows of participating merchants. There is no purchase required to win and you can get one free ticket just for visiting a merchant. You’ll get additional tickets for every $10 of your purchase. Be sure and ask for them!

Each Sunday in December the Ponca City News will publish special winning tickets good for $100. Match the published numbers to one of your tickets, bring the ticket to the Chamber office at 5^th and Grand and walk out $100 richer!

The main event takes place Thursday, December 18^th when drawings for the winning tickets, and lots of great prizes, will be held. Prizes will include a total of four (4) $500 gift certificates, two (2) gift certificates of $1,000 each and a grand prize of one (1) certificate worth $5,000!

Tune in at 7:00 P.M. to any of these radio stations, KLOR, KPNC, KIXR, WBBZ, 89.7 or 88.7 to hear the numbers announced. If you hear your number you’ll have five minutes to call the Chamber at 580 765 4400 or toll-free 866 763 8092 to claim your prize.

But remember you have just five minutes. Miss it and a new number will be drawn. However, to illustrate its popularity, last year not a single winning ticket needed to be redrawn or went unclaimed.

This year's Holiday Giveaway is worth a total of $13,000 to some lucky Poncans... why not you? It's a great promotion that ENB heartily endorses and we urge everyone to participate. It’s good for the merchants, it’s good for the town and, who knows, with one winning number, it just might be good for you, too.
